2011 BRKC - British IKWC Qualifier Begins!
The pre-qualifying events for this year's Indoor kart Championship continue in Europe. This coming Sunday (March 6th) sees the opening round of the British Rental Kart Championship 2011 (BRKC) take place at the Birmingham Wheels International Circuit in Birmingham, UK.
The series, devised by British driver Bradley Philpot, takes inspiration from the thriving Indoor Kart World Championship itself, employing the values of equal equipment and affordability. The 2011 British Rental kart Championship will take place over six rounds between March and July, with a view to sending the British Champion to the 2011 Indoor Kart World Championship in Eupen, Belgium. It will include events at both indoor and outdoor circuits.
Fifty Four drivers of various nationalities have signed up for the series, with over forty expected to race at the opening round this weekend. Unusually for a rental kart series, there are several drivers with world class pedigree taking part. Craig Dolby is an international single seater driver who has finished as runner up in Superleague Formula for the past two seasons. Benjamin Bailly is another international racer, having won a Formula Two race in 2010.
Whatever the outcome, Team Great Britain is guaranteed a strong addition to its World Championship squad in the form of the BRKC champion, come July.
Results to follow, Sunday 6th of March.
