2011 BRKC - Harry Wicks leads!
March 06, 2011
Round 1 of the British Rental Kart Championship took place last Sunday at Birmingham International Circuit (outdoor) in the UK. Forty drivers turned out to compete in the prestigious opening round of the new series, and some very close racing ensued. Taking the eventual podium spots "Overall" were Harry Wicks in 1st, Team GB driver Jonny Elliott in 2nd, and international racer Anwar Beroual Smith in 3rd. Wicks also set the fastest lap of the day. In the "Heavyweight" class it was Lee Jones in 1st, with Team Austria IKWC drivers Willi Strobl and Florian Holzinger in 2nd and 3rd spots. The series has received great reviews from the drivers, and with 5 Rounds to be run and one result to drop, the British Championship Title is still anyone's game.
BRKC Top 5 Overall after R1:
1 - Harry Wicks ------------ 50pts.
2 - Jonny Elliott ------------ 38
3 - Anwar Beroual Smith - 30

BRKC's Round 2 will be held at Herefordshire Raceway (outdoor) on the 3rd of April. The BRKC is open to any driver, and a spot in Race 2 can be booked for £40 at www.brkc.net .

Jonny Elliott (10) tried every trick in the book, but could not find a way around Harry Wicks (3).
