Feb 20, 2011 (Como, Italy) - The last day of the 2011 Italian Indoor Karting Championship looked like it would be a battle between 2 drivers, Stefano Arrighi and Alberto Forte. Both Italians had reached the Final by winning every single one of their 4 Qualifier races, and either one looked like a sure bet to also take the Final. However, it was not meant to be. Already in qualifying it appeared they would have to work very hard not only to beat each other, but soon realized they also would have to beat current Indoor Kart World Champion Kenny Geldhof from Belgium. The Belgian had reached the Final with two wins and two 2nd places in the 4 Qualifier races. Geldhof was down in points going into the Final, but still with chances to take the Title.

The last day of competition began with a superb qualifying performance by the Belgian, who put kis kart on pole-position, while Arrighi could only manage a 4th on the grid. Forte found himself even further down the grid, in 6th starting position. Geldhof needed to win and hope for some more bad luck for Arrighi and Forte. Geldhof went on to dominate the race and win the Final, in a superb demonstration of why he is the current Indoor Kart World Champion. Arrighi and Forte indeed found more bad luck and had their worst race of the Championship. Arrighi and Barletta crashed after the start, which caused the first 3 drivers to break free from the pack and Arrighi to fall to last place. Forte, who started 6th, moved to 4th thanks to the Arrighi/Barletta accident, but the accident also caused him to lose contact with the first 3 drivers.  At the end, neither of the 2 italian favorites could finish on the podium and cost them the points needed to best race winner Geldhof.

The event was deemed a success and organizers and drivers are already looking forward to the 2012 Italian Indoor Kart Championship!
