In 2005, for the 1st time ever, drivers from across the world met to compete in an Indoor Kart World Championship event held at an indoor rental kart facility. The historic event, brought together in competition 40 drivers from 9 different countries at the world class, F1 Race Factory in Phoenix, Arizona - USA. Since then, over 80 drivers take on the challenge every year, with over 25 countries having been represented in the competition. After 4 unforgetable events in the USA and Belgium over the years, the world's best drivers will meet again on August 2-9, 2009, this time at Macae' Centro in Rio de Janeiro (Macae'), Brazil, to compete for the highest honor in the sport of indoor kart racing, the Indoor Kart World Championship Driver's Title!

Racing at a top level motorsport competition, among an international field of competitors, at an exotic world location... This scenario is no longer an impossible dream for the racing driver with a limited budget! Affordable and convenient, the Indoor Kart World Championship has made this a reality! All karts, equipment, and track support is provided, and with the arrive-and-drive format of indoor karting, there is no need to stress about working on your karts. All drivers need to focus on is the best part of racing: their driving performance! Just like the pros! The format attracts drivers from all backgrounds and levels of experience. Some drivers are after the coveted World Champion titles and the awards, while some are in it just for the challenge of competition. The spectrum of competitors covers both young and old, male and female, and previous IKWCs have included indoor kart drivers from Australia, Brazil, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Italy, India, Germany, Colombia, Sweden, Netherlands, USA, France, and many more nations. It also has included drivers experienced in various levels of kart and car racing. Plus, keeping true to the roots of indoor kart racing, anyone who wishes to challenge the experts, regardless of experience, is also welcome!
